Calvin Women's Chorale

Yesterday Brian and I actually got out of our apartment and did something on a weekend night!  This is not a regular occurrence for us (unless we're in GR), so it definitely is something of note to write about here.  Our big adventure was to see the Calvin Women's Chorale perform at North Hills CRC in Troy.  I've been getting postcards, e-mails, and bulletin announcements about this concert for a while and had mentioned to Brian that maybe we could go.  When I got home from work on Saturday, he had decided that we were going to go to the concert.

The trip there was pretty uneventful, but we did get to see some suburbs that we've never been in before.  The church was definitely different than what I thought it would be, but it was a great place for this concert.  The choir did an excellent job and it was nice to go to a concert again.  We grabbed a cookie afterwards, but then headed home since we didn't know anyone in the choir.  We made the mistake of taking Southfield Fwy. home and ended up in a traffic jam by 96.  Not so fun, but it didn't last for too long.  It was definitely nice to get out of the house and do something different for a change!

Dog Bone Cookies

Tomorrow I am running a program called "Scooby-Doo!  Where Are You?" at the library.  As a snack, we are having "Scooby Snacks" which are just dog bone shaped cookies with frosting and sprinkles.  Yesterday I made the cookies and today I frosted and decorated them.  Unfortunately, my cookies don't really look much like dog bones anymore.  I don't think I'll tell the kids they are dog bone shapes because they probably will tell me they don't look at all like dog bones.  :)  I took some pictures to show you what they ended up looking like and what the cookie cutter I used looks like.

Project Pictures

Here are some pictures of some of the projects I've been working on.  Enjoy!

Four of the round washcloths I've made recently.

Finishing Projects

Since I have a lot of extra time right now (3 days a week with no work or school), I have been working on finishing projects that I started long ago and just have never taken the time to finish.  I started the year off by finishing the stocking hat I made for Brian (see a few posts down for pictures) and finishing the giraffe cross stitch I made for my sister's birthday (that was supposed to be for her wedding last July).  There aren't any pictures of the cross stitch, but I will see if I can get one to post on here soon.  I have also used some of the yarn I have had for a long time to make a few washcloths (pictures coming soon).

I now have started on finishing another project that has been in process for almost three years - our honeymoon scrapbook.  Right after our honeymoon, I had our pictures developed to put in a scrapbook that we purchased on our honeymoon.  Needless to say, grad school got in the way and I have never had time to work on this project.  I've had all the supplies and the pictures, but never sat down to do the book.  Since I now have time, I've gotten the book back out and have actually completed one page!

I just recently got my scrapbooking stuff from my parent's house and now plan to finish our honeymoon book and possibly work again on my regular scrapbooks.  I have a scrapbook of my childhood done and am partway through one for middle school.  I'd like to finish that book and get started on a book for high school.  For pictures beyond high school, I am considering making digital scrapbooks since most of these pictures are in digital form already.  I also have plans to make books for a few special trips and other activities that I have pictures printed already.  We'll see how far I get, but at least I have plans to do something useful with my time!
