Master of Library and Information Science

As of this past week, I can officially say that I have my masters degree!  My grade was posted for this semester, my degree was posted online, my paperwork was sent in for my endorsement on my teaching certificate, and I received my diploma!  Even though I didn't go to graduation, I still feel like I have finally finished by having this piece of paper in my hands!

Happy First Birthday Trent!

This past weekend while in Grand Rapids, Brian and I got to celebrate our nephew Trent's first birthday!  The whole family was there and we had a great time seeing all the kids again.  Trent wasn't very interested in the presents, but definitely warmed up to the cake once he figured out that it was edible!  Enjoy the slide show!

Fifth Third River Bank Run

This past Saturday, Brian and I ran in the Fifth Third River Bank Run.  This was a first race for both of us.  It was not the greatest day, but we both were pleased with what we accomplished!

Results:
Brian: 10K race - 54:22 chip time - 8:46/mile
Beth: 5K race - 31:23 chip time - 10:07/mile

To see our results, look in Section W from the Sunday, May 9, 2010 Grand Rapids Press.  My results are on W18 about halfway down the second column and Brian's results are on W15 about halfway down the first column.

Here's Brian and I after the race at my parent's house.  We both wore two long sleeve shirts because it was only in the 30s with sprinkles.  I ran half the race without my glasses on because they were wet and all foggy.

This is my bib and finisher's pin.  Brian brought his to work, so I couldn't take a picture of them.

My name is in the middle of this list.  It was the right way before I put it on here!

Pinewood Derby

Last Wednesday, Brian helped with the last Wednesday event for Cadets for the year.  They had their annual Pinewood Derby.  Brian has enjoyed helping with Cadets, although sometimes they get a little too loud and rambunctious for him.  :)  In a few weeks they will have their official last event when the older kids going on a camp-out at the metropark by our apartment.  Here's some pictures of the Pinewood Derby.

Baby Bib Cross Stitch

Last night I finished another project while watching Twilight and New Moon since Brian is gone for a few days.  I had started this baby bib a long time ago, but never finished it.  I found it the other day and figured that I should probably finish it just so that I didn't have to store it anymore.  I've been working on it pretty consistently for the past week or so and am glad it's done.  Here's some pictures of the finished product.

Surprise

Last Friday I got the mail and there was a box in our mailbox.  This may not seem weird, but it is for us because most boxes do not fit into our mailbox.  This box was tall enough and skinny enough to fit in our mailbox easily with the rest of our mail.  When I took it out, I noticed that it was from WayFM, the radio station we support in Grand Rapids.  This was also weird because I wasn't expecting anything from them.  When I got it upstairs, I opened it and discovered that there was a water bottle in the box!  I'm not sure why we got it, but I'm assuming it's because we support their ministry.  It was a wonderful surprise because the water bottle I use every day for work is starting to look pretty shabby.  It's a plastic water bottle that I got at graduation from Calvin.  It is nice to have a new water bottle without even asking for one!

Church Shower

This past Saturday, I helped to throw a bridal shower at our church.  The son of one of the women in our small group is getting married and we threw a shower for his fiance.  We had brunch and then watched her open all her gifts while hearing a little bit about the wedding and the two of them.  It was a lot of fun to work with women from our small group.  Here's a picture of the women who helped to throw the shower and make the food.
