"I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man remains in me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing." ~John 15:5

Spring Has Sprung!
Well, I've decided to take a few minutes out of my second-to-last week of school to provide you all with a quick update. It has been a pretty busy first quarter of 2009 and the last three quarters only look to be even busier! Here's the basics:
1. Brian continues to work at MTU Detroit Diesel and has been super busy working on a large project for the ordering system that the company is updating to. He has worked a lot of overtime in the last few months, but that looks to be ending now. He has been on a traveling freeze also and it's been nice to have him around all the time.
2. I'm still working at the Allen Park Public Library. I'm having fun putting together Saturday programs for the children and weeding the juvenile non-fiction collection. It's nice to have a bit of work to do even while I'm in school.
3. I'm still in school. Next week I will be done with classes for this semester and won't take anymore until fall. I should be done in May of 2010.
4. We made lots of trips home in March for birthdays and showers and weddings. It has been nice to stay in Belleville for the last little bit.
5. My sister Katie got engaged while she was on a trip to Colorado to visit friends with Kyle. They'll be getting married July 25, so the planning has begun. I'm in the midst of it all since I'm the matron of honor (makes me sound kind of frumpy!).
6. Brian's sister Jamie is getting married in Nuevo Vallarta, Mexico on July 11. We just bought our plane tickets and made hotel reservations for the long weekend that we will be down there. It will be nice to have one relaxing vacation this year!
7. Brian's sister Jill is getting married in December and I'm going to be a bridesmaid! We're looking forward to going to Florida for this wedding since neither of us have ever been there before.
8. We have many other friends and family members that are getting married this year and we can't wait to spend their special days with them.
9. Brian is going to be playing on the church's softball team this summer. They had their first practice tonight. We'll see how well he does since he hasn't played in years!
10. We're in the process of looking for a house in this area. We've been looking a lot with a realtor from our church and have enjoyed the process so far. We're anxious to see what God has planned for us in the future!
In anticipation of owning a house soon, we decided to plant some fruits and vegetables that we can transplant once we have a yard. Here are some pictures from the first day we planted them. I'll keep you updated on their progress!

A Whirlwind of Holidays
Well, once again it's been a while since I've had a chance to update the blog. We have been busy with a week long trip to Grand Rapids for the holidays and then getting settled back into a routine here in Belleville. Here's a bit of what we did for the holidays in GR.
-Had the traditional candlelight Christmas dinner with the Pfruender family. We opened presents and played games after dinner. Brian's most-used present so far: toaster oven. Beth's most-used present so far: slippers.
-Had brunch with the Ponstein family. We met Vic (Jill's boyfriend) for the first time and heard the news that they are engaged. Did a gift exchange by playing bingo. Missed Jamie and Edgar. Loved watching the girls dress up in their new play clothes and sing into their microphones.
-Had dinner with the Branderhorst family. It was great to be able to do this again since it was skipped last year because of Oma's health. Did a gift exchange and came home with two great games. Got to see Ruthie and Tim for the first time in a long time. Missed Aunt Sechan because her mother died in Okinawa. Didn't miss her chicken because Dad made it.
-Had dinner with the Feenstra family. We were bummed we had to leave early, but I had to work the next day. Enjoyed great food and watching people trying to figure out Christmas carol games.
-Helped Nick and Kelly move from their apartment to the parsonage at Oakland CRC. Got a great lunch at Crazy Horse in Holland.
-Did the traditional Frankie V's and bowling with Brian's friends. Got to see Eric and Joel since they were in town, but missed seeing Katie. Played an interesting game of bowling with the goal to score each number 1-10 in each of the 10 frames. I stayed alive the longest, but lost in the end.
-Had lunch with my roomMate Stephanie and lunch with my former boss Marie. It was great to catch up with both of them.
-Went "ice skating" with Deb and Patrick. There was a long wait so we ended up getting coffee and playing Settlers instead. Our new ice skates will have to wait a bit longer to be used.
-Celebrated the new year with Nick, Kelly, Bryan, Steph, Deb, and Patrick. Had some good strawberry daiquiris, played a lot of games, and was totally bummed by channel 13's coverage of the new year. I didn't get to see Dick Clark kiss his wife at midnight because they switched to the ball drop in GR. I did get to see a picture of it later though, so my new year is complete.
-Did a bit of shopping, eating out, and lounging around the house also.
Now we're back in Belleville and back into our normal routine. I went back to work the 2nd and Brian went back the 5th. I start school this coming Monday with three online classes. I've been doing a bit of cross-stitching, knitting, and reading since we've been back and Brian's been busy making movies of our holidays.
2009 is looking to be a busy year. We have some rather large plans and changes coming ahead of us and we can only trust God to make them all happen. It looks like we have a wedding in Mexico for Brian's sister Jamie and one in Florida for Brian's sister Jill. I'll hopefully finish my graduate degree by the end of the year. Brian is staying busy with work. Thanks for continuing to visit with us in 2009!
